Interview with Ginger Sharp
Ginger Sharp Indie Author
Alan Kealey (Indie Author News): What is your (writing) background?
Ginger Sharp: I really do not have a writing background. I was more of a technical writer with creating documentation for information technology staff.
Who are your favorite writers, your favorite books, and who or what are your writing influences?Ginger Sharp: Nicki Charles, Stephen King and really are too many to list! I just found a new author that I am really digging! Amy Bol and her new book Taste of Bane which is a lycan story. I really enjoy lycan novels.
When did you first know that you wanted to be a writer?
Ginger Sharp: I never thought I would be a writer. Just something I played around with and a few friends from work encouraged me to do more with my writing. I mostly dream my stories and then run to my laptop to begin the outline process.
Do you remember the first story you ever wrote?
Ginger Sharp: Oh yes, I remember! I was in 2nd grade and I had my own typewriter. I wrote a silly little Tom and Jerry spin off comic.
"I have a dream then I outline. I start writing!"
Tell us about your writing process. Do you have a writing routine?
Ginger Sharp: I have a dream then I outline. I start writing! I have to get the words down before the husband comes home to distract me!
Ginger Sharp's Workplace
Please, describe your desk/workplace.
Ginger Sharp: No desk.... My couch, end table and coffee table is where I live along with my large ice coffee. I sit next to the window and stare outside a little too much. I have this rhododendron next to the window where I put suet for birds. I watch the titmouse birds feast. The bird feeder also doubles as a cat distraction tactic. This keeps Livi, my husband’s cat off my keyboard.
What do you find easiest about writing? What the hardest?
Ginger Sharp: If the dream was a good vivid one then I have no problem writing. I am dyslexic and sometimes my words to not come out correctly. I also think that I have developed A.D.D as I have become older. (LOL)
What is the greatest joy of writing for you?
Ginger Sharp: Once the book is done and come back from edit! I am thrilled to see how my mess come together. I played it cool on Lost Her. I was afraid to be overly raunchy. I overcame my shyness by the end of Lost Years. After that meek hurdle, I just wrote it how I felt the story was meant to be. No covering up the character flaws trying to make them likable.
Ginger, please tell us a little about your Adult Romance Novel Lost Her.
Ginger Sharp: This story is about Olivia finding herself and Ryan realizing that. This love story is powerful and deep. Making a marriage work is hard, and this shows that. So much happens to develop the relationships in this story. You feel them each connect and grow as people
What inspired you to write the book?
Lost Her is a wine inspired crazy dream. I would wake up two o’clock in the morning with these continuous dreams about the characters that I just could not erase from my brain.
Who do you see as your target audience and where can we buy the book?
Adults just wanting a good read. The book is available at Amazon and Barnes and Nobles.
"My fans mean EVERYTHING to me!"
What do your fans mean to you?
Ginger Sharp: My fans mean EVERYTHING to me! There is one person who reaches out to me via Facebook telling me how much she loves the stories that I have written. I love feedback, PLEASE!
How would you describe the success of your book so far?
Just starting to really push the books. I have some people that love all four books that I have written and others hate my writing. I learned a very long time ago to just please myself and maybe a few others may agree with me.
How long did it take it to write the book?
Ginger Sharp: Lost Her turned out to be a series. I wrote all three books in two months.
"[...] collaborate with other people who can provide feedback on the storyline."
Can you give some advice for other Authors regarding the writing process?
Outline your story first and then collaborate with other people who can provide feedback on the storyline.
Are you working on another book project? Can you tell us a little about it?
Jaded Legacy and this is Parker Nevil's story which turns out to be another trilogy.
Where do you see the book market in 5 or 10 years? Will there be only eBooks and will book stores disappear like record stores disappeared?
Ginger Sharp: To be honest, I am really not sure. I watch many apocalypse type movies and TV shows where I see the need for books. I must say I do love reading on my reader.
What is your e-reading device of choice?
Ginger Sharp: 1st choice is my laptop because I have an external 24” monitor sitting on my end table. The large monitor makes reading so much easier. My 2nd choice is my Samsung Galaxy Tab 7" and 3rd choice is my iPad. I use Kindle on all 3 platforms.
Do you write full-time or do you have a day job? When you're not writing, how do you spend your time?
Ginger Sharp: I normally have a full-time career in Information Technology, but I decided to change it up. I went back to school this past year to become an Animal Control Officer and Animal Cruelty Investigator. I am still just volunteering and helping out with my local SPCA.
How can readers connect with you?
Ginger Sharp: I am on Facebook, Twitter, Goodreads and Pinterest.
Ryan and Olivia have it all: wonderful law careers and the perfect family. Living extremely busy lives, they realize that they don’t really know each other at all. Their lives are not as perfect as the facade they hide behind. Tragedy rips them apart and all their secrets unfold. Olivia leaves her life behind and moves to a remote village in Costa Rica to start over, where she meets stunning Parker. Olivia battles her desire for the handsome foreigner, but loneliness teases her emotions.
Parker tries to achieve Olivia's love but is pushed aside when Ryan appears unannounced.
Just how far will Parker and Ryan go to fight for the woman whose love is all that matters to each of them.

Ginger Sharp is a truly wonderful woman with a brash sense of humor and an audaciousness that people either love or don’t. I’m pretty sure she doesn’t care either. 🙂She’s also a talented author and a friend!!! Here’s her Amazon Bio ~~~
Ginger Sharp resides in New Jersey. For many years she worked in the information technology field. She has a love for traveling to other countries. Ginger is an avid supporter of animal welfare. Her first book, “Lost Her,” made its debut in 2013 on Amazon and has been followed by many other steamy adult romance novels.
Now, check out my interview with this sexy and opinionated author.
Hello, Ginger. Thanks for dropping by. Have a seat, relax and get ready for my first question. What’s your latest release, and what’s your plans for 2015???
Thanks, John. Always happy to talk with you. Well, Designed Addiction, which was released back in September, is my newest novel. I have 5 books all ¾ of the way done, but I just need to focus on completing them. I’m attending several book signings this year, so hopefully the travel will give me some new ideas.
Going into the March ‘Damn, That’s Hot Erotica Event’ do you have any goals during and after your participation?
To complete all my projects and stay focused. Besides writing, I’m also restoring a car that needs to be completed before June. I’m sure 2015 will be a super busy year for me. 🙂
Shameless Plug
When you write a sex scene, how much of your actual sex life do you put into it?
Not much since my man isn’t into the kink as much as I am. I do a lot of porn watching and then use what I learn in the bedroom and in my books. My man is hard to get drunk, so I can’t take advantage of him the way I want.
Have you ever encountered any hate or bias about your hobby/profession from people in your real life or Facebook life — and how did you handle it?
Yes, and I deal with it by just ignoring it. Some neighbor’s love what I do and others turn their backs on me. Let’s just say that this past Halloween, I didn’t have any trick or treaters come to my door.
Would you say your sex life has improved since you started writing erotica and, if so, how?
I think my sex life improved as soon as the kid moved out and my man and I were able to get back to making those loud noises.
Have you ever written about a sexual fetish or act that you’ve never done in real life and, if so, what is it and why haven’t you?
Yes, where the man eats sushi off his wife’s body while she’s tied down to the kitchen table. I’ve never done it since my guy doesn’t eat sushi, darn!
Thanks for an interesting conversation, Ginger. I look forward to partying with you at our Upcoming Facebook Event. Let’s take a look at three of your Erotica novels.
